I love eating seasonally. So when #pumpkinseason comes around, I find myself incorporating it into lots of my recipes. If you’re also a pumpkin lover, you know that this season is over all too soon, so you’ve gotta get your pumpkin fix in whenever you can.
It seemed appropriate that the first fall recipe I share this year is a smoothie. If you know me, I’m a smoothie addict. They’re an easy and delicious way to pack in lotssss of nutrients and minerals. So when I first got the idea to make a smoothie involving pumpkin and fall spices, I instantly became obsessed!
Reasons to Love this Smoothie
- Pumpkin – Full of vitamin A, antioxidants, potassium, fiber and vitamin C.
- Bananas – Bananas are full of many important nutrients and minerals like potassium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, and more. They’re a good source of fiber and contain powerful antioxidants. They also sweeten any smoothie they’re added to.
- Cinnamon – Cinnamon is one of the most powerful antioxidants. It also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
- Turmeric – This superfood has powerful medicinal benefits. It’s been shown the shortening of telomeres (controls biological aging). Curcumin, the main component in turmeric, is a strong anti-inflammatory. Some studies show that it even matches the effectiveness of some anti-inflammatory drugs without the negative side effects.
- Dates – Dates are full of antioxidants and a great source of fiber. Studies show that dates also support brain health. They contain minerals like phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and magnesium which support bone health as well.
Healthy Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1 pitted date (optional)
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup plant-based milk (i use coconut milk)
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- a pinch of black pepper (helps with curcumin absorption. always consume with turmeric)
Instructions
- Add ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. Enjoy!
Helpful Tips
- Some blenders take a little longer to blend the date. Chop it into little pieces before adding to help with the process.
